Facebook Workshop

Creating a Facebook Page for your Business - Are you on Facebook? Have a profile but thinking about adding a business page? Started reading a page and gave up in frustration? Have a page, but don't know what to with it?

The Heart of Vermont Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Greensboro Free Library will be having a workshop to help you create your own business page on Facebook. Bring your own laptop or use one of the Library's computers for this very practical, very easy to understand workshop led by Nancy Kish, Heart of Vermont Chamber of Commerce.

Cost: $25.00 or free for HVCC members.
Time: Tuesday, March 9th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm

Chili Dinner

Chili Dinner Will Take the Chill Out of Winter!

A potluck dinner will be held at Fellowship Hall, Greensboro United Church of Christ, January 29th at 5:00 pm.

People of all ages are invited to come take the chill out of winter by partaking of chili etc.

Following a period for all to fill their tummies, you can settle in for a performance by the library's home schooling group. This year it is a Japanese inspired play entitled SUSA-NO-WO (The Dragon Slayer). Come enjoy the performance.

Menu for the Future

Greensboro Free Library

First session of a six-session community discussion group “Menu for the Future” about food and food systems. The readings, compiled by the Northwest Earth Institute, consider food from multiple perspectives – cultural, economic, ecological, health and social – each presenting a different, though often complementary, angle on the complex modern food systems that most of us depend on. Holiday Open House

Holiday Open House! December 18, 2009 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at the Greensboro Free Library, 53 Wilson Street, Greensboro, Vermont 05841

Come enjoy the holiday at the Greensboro Free Library. Sit by the fire eating punch and cookies while our homeschool patrons share with you what they've learned about Japan this fall (2:30 - 3:00) including some Japanese dishes.

Japanese Songs for Children

 

Alex and Yokiyo Smith held a workshop teaching Japanese Songs for Children on Friday, November 6, 2009 at the Library as part of the Vermont Reads program. They learned not only some songs but also how to write in Japanese. A book discussion of "The Emperor was Divine" was held earlier.

Upcoming events

As part of Vermont Reads, a statewide one-book community reading program, the Greensboro Free Library will be having a book discussion of "When the Emperor Was Divine" by Julie Otsuka on October 24th at 10 am.

The book tells the story of one Japanese American family's internment in a Utah enemy alien camp during World War II. Come learn about one of the things that happened during World War II. The books are available at the library. Be sure to take one out and read it to learn about life during World War II.

Upcoming events

We have two exciting programs in March.

Chili Dinner - Friday, March 20 at Fellowship Hall, United Church of Christ. Come take the chill out of winter and enjoy entertainment by the homeschooled children who are using the library to learn about medieval history. Admission is by donation and there will be lots of chili, cornbread, cole slaw and cookies.

"The Big Read" - Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451
Saturday, March 28th at 1:00pm at the Greensboro Free Library
Eleanor Guare will lead a book discussion of this fascinating book which is a literary classic. Learn about firemen burning books as part their job and how it affects Montag after he watches a woman die rather than leave her library. Come take part as we discuss how relevant this is to today's society. The books are available at the library.
